The William Miller Ancestral Forum website is dedicated to the direct and/or indirect descendents and ancestors of Captain William Miller, Captain of the sailing brig "Asia" for more than 20 years, born in Sunderland, Durham in 1793, who died aged 59 in 1852, in Thames Street, South Shields, also in Durham. We have chosen "Capt. Bill" to define our extended family because he has provided us with significant challenges over the last few years, but is sufficiently "young" to have generated at least some accessible written records - although he doesn't feature in any census - and it's a continuing pleasure to imagine yourself in his shoes, living in his times, and generally trying to understand him. (I'm not ashamed to admit I recently raised a glass to his memory, on the occasion of his 220th birthday!!) The site is intended not only for the dedicated family history researcher, but also for the casual visitor. Please ask questions - if your current research has "hit a brick wall", we'll be happy to help - but please remember, we are only interested amateurs, but we'll do our best!! And if you have an interesting story, fact, or photo, you'd like to share - get in touch with us now. If you think or know you have any sort of link with Capt. Bill, or even if you just think your Miller connection can be traced back to Durham, we'd love to hear from you. Just create a username and password to gain access - we need this for security, there are no costs to you for using the site. Have fun!
